PLAY FOR PRIDE
Australia have received an absolute drubbing this series. The 3-0 scoreline does seem overwhelming but that’s how clinical the World no.1 team in Odis have been. Virat Kohli for once didn’t cruise his way past numbers in a chase, but contributions from other sources meant India chased a respectable 294 in just 47.5.
Australia haven’t managed to win a One-day international since January 26th. The 5-time World champions find themselves in a pit and need some inspiration to find their way out. Whilst the Aussies have struggled to register an away win in their last 11 games, the Indian legion has enjoyed an untroubled progress to the top.
A whitewash is evidently on the cards. Also, the Aussies will move down to number 4 on the rankings for teams in Odis if the series scoreline reads 5-0.
STAY BEHIND THE BATTING CREASE MAXWELL
Fragile and the Australian batting were oxymorons a couple of years ago. Their batting order is far from being shaky but the application out in the center has been disappointing. Glenn Maxwell’s dismissals in the second and third ODI were planned to perfection.
Maxwell’s ability to clear any boundary in the world with the utmost of ease is a known fact. It would be fair to say that he needs to curb his natural instincts. There’s a fine line between being circumspect and being complacent. That, Maxwell has to identify if he wants to score runs for Australia.
The attacking all-rounder was found wanting against the wit of MS Dhoni and Yuzvendra Chahal. Temperament is needed to build an innings or when the team’s chasing a stiff target. A leaf out of Virat’s book will assuredly help the Aussie’s cause.
THE AUSSIES LACK THE FINAL PUNCH
The Aussies dominated every format for a good 20 years. During this period the team refined enough to challenge them was the blue brigade from India. The game would go down to the wire but by all means, the Australians would have the last laugh. Almost always. This series, this year rather has seen a peculiar turn of events.
In the first ODI, Australia needed 164 in 21 overs. With that Aussie hitting ability in a curtailed game the chase should have been as easy as a pie. India went on to defend the target with some belligerence and won the game by 26 runs.
In the third ODI, at 243/2 in 42 overs, a total of over 320 would not have been a bad prediction and if you add to it the Aussie aggression a total of 350 wouldn’t have seemed a surprise. However, after the completion of 50 overs, 294 is what the Australians managed. Now that’s something surprisingly unusual and their dynamic frailty has now caused them the series.
INDIA v AUSTRALIA 4th ODI TEAM COMBINATION
Adam Zampa is likely to replace Ashton Agar who flew back home with an injured finger. James Faulkner might replace Pat Cummins and the wicket-keeping duties are likely to be served by Peter Handscomb. India might want to continue their winning streak with the same eleven.

DREAM XI, TEAM: A 5-2-3 combination seems to be the one to go forward with, but the budget here is a real concern. David Warner’s due for a big score. Aaron Finch scored a beautiful hundred in the previous game. Steve Smith and Virat Kohli can’t be left out. Ajinkya and Rohit have been scoring runs. The selection for this game is extremely tricky.
Wicket-Keeper: Ms. Dhoni
Batsmen: Virat Kohli(C), Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith, David Warner (VC), Aaron Finch
All-rounders: Glenn Maxwell, Hardik Pandya
Bowlers: Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Kuldeep Yadav.
