INDIA V AUSTRALIA 5th ODI MATCH PREVIEW
Australia fought back valiantly to win the fourth One-day international. Let’s take a look at a few key elements from this bilateral. a)Aaron Finch’s contribution in this series b)Kohli’s numbers against Australia and c)the Dream XI for the fifth and final One-dayer.
SERIES SO FAR
The series was done and dusted in the first 3 ODIs with India taking an unassailable lead, 3-0. But, the scoreline could have read otherwise only if Australia had consolidated on the positive starts.
However, the Indian team stuck to their basics and pummelled the Aussies to the top of the ODI rankings. Hardik Pandya has been a revelation this series. The lanky all-rounder has come of age. His progress from a mediocre striker to a proper batsman has been a real positive.
A whitewash was certainly on the cards but some fine batting from the Aussie top-order helped them register their first victory of the bilateral. Their first away win in 12 games.
Pandya is now the highest run-getter with 222 runs followed by Aaron Finch on 218 in 2 games fewer. The team winning the toss has chosen to bat first in all the four games and has won 3 out of 4.
GAME CHANGER AARON FINCH
Australia’s top order looked extremely fragile in the first two One-dayers. Hilton Cartwright struggled against the Indian pacers, especially Bhuvanesh Kumar. Scores of 1,1 in the first two games an early wicket with the new ball.
Aaron Finch who was out with an injury for the first 2 games made a mark immediately after his inclusion. 124 and 94 in the two games showed his ability to hit the long ball at will and also play the waiting game if a bowler has a decent spell.
Finch averages 36.62 In ODIs with 8 hundreds and 17 fifties in 80 innings. That’s a 50 plus score in every 3.2 games. It’s a little early to compare him with one Matthew Hayden, but he’s got the quality to clobber any bowling attack in the world just like Hayden did.
His contribution in the series has been significant and the touring team would want to finish the ODI series on a high. Assumingly 3-2.
KOHLI VS AUSTRALIA
Coulter-Nile has had a sumptuous 2017 in India. He was mighty effective In the Indian Premier League for the Kolkata Knight Riders and that experience is doing him a world of good on the current tour.
Nile has dismissed Kohli thrice in the last 4 innings. Two of them ricocheting off the bat onto the stumps.
Kohli averages 51.95 in 27 games with 5 hundreds. Only Rohit Sharma, 63.82, averages more against the Aussies for Indian batsmen.
TEAM NEWS: Both the teams are likely to make a couple of changes. Glenn Maxwell might get a place in the eleven for the final fixture while for India Kuldeep Yadav and KL Rahul are likely to play for Yuzvendra Chahal and Kedhar Jadhav.
