Ben Stokes, England’s test vice-captain, and opener Alex Hales will not be available for the 4th ODI against West Indies at The Oval. After an incident on Monday morning in Bristol, Stokes was taken into custody but was later released without any charges.

England are to announce their squad for the Ashes and this occurrence will have a major impact on the selection. A key member of the team, Stokes would want to come out of this clean and would want to find a place in the Ashes squad.

England won the Bristol ODI by 124 runs and have taken a firm grip on the series. Moeen Ali’s squash-buckling hundred was the focal point of the game. His brilliance was equally supported by some neat fast bowling from the lanky Liam Plunkett. Plunkett finished the game with figures of 5/52; his best in one-day cricket.

Chris Gayle’s blistering knock didn’t help the Windies as their middle-order failed to delivery. Yet again. With 2 key players missing for the fourth ODI, Jason Holder will fancy his chances. However, for that to happen their middle-order and a feeble bowling attack need to fire.

The English sides of the yesteryears managed scores of 300 or more only 41 times until 2015. Over the last eighteen months, the English team has transformed into a colossal run machine. They’ve scored 300+ a massive 17 times. The most by any team during that period( from 01 January 2016 to 27 September 2017).

They’ve got every department covered with endless skill. Power hitting, check. Calculated hitting, check. Nudging, check. To add to their flamboyance, their batting depth has been an ordeal for the opponents.

The West Indies have struggled to contain quality batting for some time now. The most experienced pacer in their line-up is their skipper. Holder has played 66 Odis so far. The other 4; Miguel Cummins, Devendra Bishoo, Ashley Nurse and Roman Powell put together have only played 69 games. That’s how inexperienced the bowling unit is and it was visible in the previous game.

In the third  ODI, after 11.2 overs England were 74/3. From an astute hold on the game, the Windies then let Joe Root score at a strike rate of 106.32. Ben Stokes scored 73 off 63. Moeen Ali scored the second fastest hundred by an English batsman. His second fifty came off 12 balls. Modern cricket is challenging the bowler’s skill and their consistency to land the ball in the right areas. The margin for error is minimal in the limited over format and the West Indies clearly have lacked innovation.

While the rest of the international teams have managed to have at least a couple of decent strike bowlers in their teams, the Windies have fallen short by a distance.

Ben Stokes and Alex Hales will be out for the 4th ODI. Jason Roy and Jake Ball are the probable replacements. The West Indies are likely to remain unchanged.

England Vs West Indies 4th ODI Dream11 Tips

  • Avoid including Strokes & Alex Hales
  • Batting Track, so try to take maximum Batsman and All-rounders in the Team

DREAM XI STRATEGY: A 4-3–3 combination would be a precise one to choose for this game. Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali will bat one position higher since Stokes is out. Miguel Cummins did concede 9 runs per over at Bristol, but he’s a wicket-taking option.
